Job Description

Job Objectives:

Support the Head of Treasury in all treasury activities within Qatalum including Cash management, loan management, trade finance transactions, reporting, interest rate and commodity price risk management.
Job Description:
  • Help develop hedging policies.
  • Assist with bank negotiations.
  • Maintain bank reconciliation statements on monthly basis & monitor daily bank account balances.
  • Preparation monthly reports for sharing with other departments and external parties.
  • Using Bloomberg terminal efficiently to monitor interest rates, LME on weekly basis.
  • Applying FX deals via Bloomberg terminal & 360T in accordance to cash & liquidity forecast and applicable approvers as per treasury policy and procedures.
  • Reviewing treasury procedures annually to incorporate updates and improvements if any. 
  • Compliance to loan agreement terms & conditions and financial covenants.
  • Execute transactions at best possible prices in accordance with Board approved policies as directed by the Treasury Manager.
  • Manage open positions and ensure Qatalum fulfils all obligations to counterparties.
  • Assist with the IAS39 hedge effectiveness calculations and IFRS7 disclosures to ensure compliance with IFRS.
  • Monitor counterparty credit ratings.
  • Recommend changes to exposures based on modified counterparty risk profiles.
  • Help ensure optimized fund operations in line with established loan agreements and cash call procedures.
  • Help manage the debt book to ensure Qatalum fulfils all obligations.
  • Developing and maintaining treasury modules, e.g. loan, tax, cash & liquidity, etc.
  • Execute cash and liquidity management transactions as directed by the Head of Treasury.
  • Help ensure sufficient liquidity is available in required currencies.
  • Help develop investment policies & seeking best investment opportunities for excess cash.
  • Develop short, medium and long term liquidity reporting procedures and systems.
  • Execute placements of excess liquidity in money market instruments (as approved by the Board) to ensure the return is maximized within reasonable risk constraints and the approved policy
  • Coordinate all Qatalum’s payments (vendors, employees, financial counterparties etc.).
  • Ensure payments are executed efficiently and without delay.
  • Propose changes to the financial authority matrix to ensure smooth payment processing.
  • Drive the implementation of straight-through-processing of payments.
  • Manage Qatalum’s petty cash.
  • Manage trade finance instruments and bank guarantees received and issued as directed by the Head of Treasury
  • Ensure foreign exchange rates and other market data (as required) is updated in SAP.
  • Provide other business areas with market data as required.

Minimum Qualification Required
  • University degree in finance, economic or, accounting, 
  • Association of Corporate Treasurers (or similar) qualification will be an advantage.
Required experience
  • 6 - 8 years’ corporate treasury experience
  • 1-2 years in an independent/senior role.
  • Significant experience from a manufacturing business.
  • Good experience of online payment systems and Bloomberg terminal (or similar package).
