Job Description

Job Objectives:
The overall objective of this job is to perform operations activities which require medium technical knowledge (operate the equipment, take readings and input into management systems, first-line maintenance, first-line trouble shooting / resets of operational equipment) within the Port area that involves working in harbour and silo area. To perform assigned tasks such as scheduled 5S, HSE inspections, equipment condition monitoring, process deviations identification and rectification. The Operator Technician is responsible for delivering quality results in conformity with Qatalum Policy and Procedures and she/ he is accountable for the equipment performance within established period after repair or service (first-line maintenance);

Job Description:

  • Carry out quality inspections and quality routine first-line maintenance of the equipment in order to prevent malfunction and maximize performance and efficiency of equipment.
  • Perform operational and process services on equipment/ systems in the port area in order to restore it to working order as quickly as possible.
  • Responsible to support the department in all HSE activities and adherence to the HSE plan; policy and procedures.
  • Perform the entire permit process and rigorously MUST follow the approved procedures;
  • Ensure operations and process requirements are met by adhering to departmental KPls and PIs.
  • Perform all operation activities and assist the colleagues/ maintenance in carrying out Break Down failure analysis and support reaction to break downs, corrective, preventive, predictive maintenance and related tasks to ensure equipment performance to standard.
  • Perform first-line troubleshooting on equipment/process in order to restore any deviation to working order the soonest possible.
  • Constantly liaise with maintenance teams to deliver quality service on equipment in order to minimize costly downtime or escalate as needed.
  • Identify and report any operation, maintenance and modifications to ensure that any malfunctioning of equipment is rectified, repaired or replaced on immediate basis.
  • Ensure accurate data is input timely in the management system and reporting.
  • Support the Qatalum Improvement Programme by using QPS tools.
  • Provide input and recommend actions for the continuous improvement of the company practices taking into account 'international best practices',
  • Changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.
  • Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety and environmental regulations in order to protect personnel and physical assets.
  • Ensure that the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively.
  • Fill in the inputs in the management system (SAP, Synergy, Etc.,) as per the agreed standard and assist in generation of any department reports (e.g. Team PIs) as per management request in a timely and accurate manner to meet company and departmental requirements concerning reporting.
  • Follow up of all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Ensure accurate shift data gathering and reporting.
  • Support the development and training of Qatar National employees.
  • Oversee and control the day-to-day equipment in the department (Pneumatic Ship-Unloader, Material Handling Equipment / Conveyor Belts, Silos, Track Loading Equipment, Pitch Tracks) with uptime, maintenance planning achieved within budget and agreed quality.
  • Assist team colleagues in introducing new tools, technologies and work routines to shift workers in order to increase awareness and improve efficiency.
  • Perform pre and post equipment inspections.
  • Perform first line maintenance on equipment in order to minimize costly downtime and escalate as needed.
  • Identify and report any operation and maintenance challenge and modification requirement, ensuring that any malfunctioning equipment is immediately and rapidly repaired and replaced.
  • Ensure high standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times and all work areas are kept free of spillages and rubbish.
  • Responsible for being part of implementing and utilizing Qatalum Production System.
  • Be a key member and vocal (with maintenance execution team members' inputs) in the CEG to improve performance and reliability.
  • Use/ motivate the colleagues' to QPS tools (A3, 7 wastes, Kaizen Blitz etc.) to improve cost, uptime, and safety/stability.

    Minimum Qualifications Required
     
  • Technical/Trade qualification in relevant field

  • 5 – 7 years' experience in similar Heavy Industries position.
