Job Description

Job Objectives:
To carry out tests and analysis which are the scope of Environmental section (sampling, sample preparation and preservation, analyzing, registering results) according to valid Qatalum Laboratory standards.

Job Description: 
Receive samples (or sample if applicable) from customers and undertake sample preservation/analysis, ensure results are accurate and delivered/registered on time and that samples are correctly identified at all times. 
Ensure all laboratory analysis comply with written SOPs.
Draft SOPs/OPLs in Inosa (for assigned responsibility areas as per competence matrix)
Handle deviations (in procedures and results) as per respective SOPs
Communicate suspicious results to the Chemist
Dispose excess/analyzed samples in proper way to reduce waste generation, Monitor disposal of all analyzed/preserved materials.
Understand department KPIs/PI. Contribute to meeting the KPIs target within defined roles and responsibilities
Active participation in department meetings i.e., HSE talks, morning meetings, department meetings, based on availability and requirement.
Ensure proper storage of all chemical, glassware, spares and gases.
Ensure effective usage of consumables as well as their availability
Ensure instrument calibration and standard results are accurate and report analyzed values in a timely manner
Equipment first line maintenance and on time notification for any breakdown issues

Minimum Qualification Required
Diploma in Chemistry
 
Required experience
4 years’ work experience in industry laboratory
 
Required competence in laboratory methods and practice
Competence in environmental emissions sampling and analysis
Competence in wet chemical analysis
 
Additional required competence
Computer literacy (MS Office Excel, Word, Power Point)
Fluency in English
 
Preferable competence in laboratory equipment and methods use
UV spectrophotometer
AAS
Ion chromatography
Overview of USEPA standards related to environmental emissions sampling and analysis
