Job Description

Job Objectives:
To be accountable for accuracy, efficiency of tests and analysis (methods) which are the scope of Environmental section (including sampling, sample preparation and preservation, analyzing, registering results). Accurate results from tests and analysis shall be delivered to customers on time and in approved format.
Job Description: 
Ensure all lab analysis comply with the written SOPs.
Develop analysis techniques for accurate results and ensure quality in all lab analysis.
Ensure on time sampling, analysis and results. Communicate abnormal results to the concerned department. 
Ensure effective use of chemicals, glassware, spares and gas and lubricants as well as their general availability.
Provide training for the lab employees to achieve a safe operation in the lab and the field. Coordinate training of new employees with training department. 
Plan and schedule maintenance of section’s equipment, support maintenance staff to troubleshoot equipment error/failure. Confirm availability and reliability of equipment. Conduct calibration and confirm analysed values are accurate.
Ensure meeting of Laboratory standard KPIs by meeting Section PIs.
Technical document preparation (like Measurement System Analysis (MSAs), Stability analysis, uncertainty, internal round robin test reports) including SOPs/OPLs verification.
Document and validate In-house procedures (GCMS, chemical analyses).
Ensures all environmental analysis as per HSE department requirement. Refer “Laboratory quality plan” document.
Ensures availability of section’s technical documents SOPs/OPLs, Standard procedures, Equipment manuals, Calibration certificates/records etc.
Draft CSAs, Highlight and address customer complaints to improve the system to enhance customer’s satisfaction.
Ensure Lab compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
Handle customer complaints and ensure follow-ups.

Minimum Qualification Required
3 year Technical Diploma/ HND in Chemistry
 
Required experience
5 - 7 years’ work experience in Aluminium industry laboratory
3 years’ experience with leading of a team
Experience in direct handling with laboratory internal or external customers
 
Required competence in laboratory methods and practice
Competence in environmental emissions sampling
Competence in wet chemical analysis
Competence in development, modification, validation of methods
Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025
Knowledge of basic statistical methods
 
Additional required competence
Computer literacy (MS Office Excel, Word, Power Point)
Fluency in English 
Strong interpersonal skills
Computer literacy (MS Office Excel, Word, Power Point)
Organizational skills
Reporting skills
 
Preferable competence in laboratory equipment and methods use
UV spectrophotometer
AAS
Ion chromatography
Overview of international and national standards (ISO, USEPA, ASTM…) related to environmental emissions sampling and analysis 
Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001
