Job Objectives:
Based in the Central Workshop, the Mechanical Technician will take part in preventive and corrective maintenance activities as required by his superior. The position includes work tasks inside the Vehicle Workshop, Central Maintenance and in the different Plant areas.
Job Description:
- Handle work orders in SAP PM according to defined work processes.
- Perform all PM&CM jobs and trouble shooting and root cause analyse in a professional way to ensure equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.
- Accountable for that HSE requirements are met and ensure that high Central Workshop housekeeping standards are met.
- Assist in the day to day activities (technical, housekeeping safety and administrative matters) to achieve the standards related to repairs and maintenance job.
- Initiate and carry out trouble shooting process to be able to support and or meet the requirements of the customer’s concerned.
- Carry-out the complex diagnostics works.
- Do proper maintenance and safety of all equipment’s, special tools are adhered according to Qatalum standards.
- Promptly report the unavailability of parts.
- Conduct service and repair work in-accordance with manufacturer guidelines,
- Ensure that Permit to Work routines are followed up within own responsibility area and follows Qatalum SOP&OPL in all activities.

Minimum Qualification Required
- ITI / Diploma / Engineering in Automobile or Mechanical
Required experience
- 4 - 6 years of experience with heavy vehicles and earth moving equipment.
- Experience in aluminium smelter vehicles MTV, APTV, Trailers etc. will be an added quality.
- Good skills in Can bus system, Micro controllers and other electrical components of Mobile Equipment.
Job Specific Skills
- Knowledge in Mobile Equipment Hydraulic system, Hydrostatic Transmission.
- Technical troubleshooting and programming by computer
- Computer literate in office software
- Experience in SAP will be an added quality.
- Proactive and should have well knowledge of PM activities
- HSE knowledge/commitment.
