Job Objectives:
To undertake corrective and preventive maintenance activities within Reduction area that involves working in Pot Line, PTMs, AJFs, CTS, CCA, FTP, DRS, MDS, CCA Relining and Cathode Roding. To perform assigned tasks such as scheduled inspections, equipment condition monitoring, corrective maintenance, fault identification and rectification.
Job Description:
- Follow all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on equipment in the Reduction area in order to restore it to working order as quickly as possible.
- Carry out inspections and routine condition monitoring of equipment in order to prevent malfunction and maximize performance and efficiency of equipment.
- Update data and maintain histories within the computerized maintenance management System/SAP to ensure that latest valid information is available.
- Assist in conducting Root Cause Analysis by interrogating the data in order to determine underlying reasons for faults.
- Generate or assist in generation of any departmental reports as per management request, in a timely and accurate manner in order to meet company and department requirements governing reporting
- Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety and environmental regulations in order to protect personnel and physical assets. Ensures that the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively
- Provide input and recommend the continuous improvement of the company practices considering ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.

Minimum Qualifications Required
- Trade qualification (mechanical) preferably Technical National; Diploma/Certificate with Engineering qualification
Minimum Experience Required
- Have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in aluminum smelter maintenance, as a Mechanical technician, preferable in Reduction.
Job Specific Skills
- Thorough understanding of the design and maintenance of all equipment within the Reduction Plant
- Good diagnostic and maintenance skills
- Computer literate
- Knowledge in SAP PM
- Ability to work as team leader for contract technician
- Fluency in English
