Job Description

Job Objectives:

Lead Process Engineer is the owner of processes and product quality in the Carbon plant from raw material to finished anodes supplied to Reduction. He will ensure that our processes are under control with minimum of variations, and ensure that we are implementing best practice changes with input from the industry and OEM
 
Job Description:
  • Manage, train process supervisors and operators to ensure processes are well understood, under control and business targets are achieved for each area
  • Lead and provide technical guidance for implementation of improvements in Carbon plant and monitor results, ensure management of change standard is followed for each change
  • Oversee the implementation of new business processes and raw material trials in cooperation with Reduction
  • Support area managers and process supervisors in order to troubleshoot technical issues and recommend actions to resolve
  • Measure quality adherence in each area with pre-agreed indicators and report to Group manager & area managers on weekly basis for continuous monitoring
  • Propose improvement ideas for Carbon processes through Industry 4.0 applications and support & monitor automations during implementation 
  • Benchmark with other smelters for existing processes and seek for improvement opportunities
  • Ensure Carbon is meeting with QS 9000 and IATF standards and participate in audits
  • Develop and update FMEA – control plan and quality catalogue for Carbon
  • Provide a leadership resource for Carbon Group Manager and department managers within Carbon during annual leaves or requested periods as substitute. 
  • Develop and update Carbon dashboard to monitor departments for the Critical Process group in Carbon. Ensure implementation SOP’s and OPL’s created by the Critical Process Groups led by process supervisors.
  • Ensure any proposed improvements or modifications to processes / standards are tested and verified in cooperation with other smelters. 
  • Provide support, assistance and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans. Coaching to the Process Group and its members on the skills and knowledge necessary to function effectively as a team
  • Provide support, assistance and coaching to the process supervisors and anode quality subjects (Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
  • Ensure training documents are prepared and updated for new employees 
  • Ensure that our quality standards are described and updated in INOSA.
  • Support the development and training of National employees.
  • Provide input and recommend the continuous improvement of the company practices taking into account ‘international best practice’, changes in international standards and changes in the business environment which demand proactive action plans.
  • Comply with all agreed occupational health, safety and environmental regulations in order to protect personnel and physical assets. Ensure that the work areas are kept in a clean and tidy state in order that work can be carried out safely and effectively.
  • Generate or assist in generation of any departmental reports are prepared as per management request, in a timely and accurate manner to meet company and department requirements governing reporting.
  • Follow of all relevant operational procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

Minimum Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Metallurgy/Mechanical/Industrial or any other relevant)

Minimum Experience Required
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience in Carbon area of a primary smelter
  • 3-5 years of supervision experience
